Teen Girls Support Group

The therapy interventions for the bi-weekly therapy group for high-school female students at the Memphis Center for Mindful Living are tailored to address the unique challenges young women face in today's culture. Led by a professional counselor with expertise and a passion for supporting young females, the sessions will incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches, detailed below:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Utilizing CBT techniques, the group will explore thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to stress, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Through cognitive restructuring and behavior modification exercises, participants will learn strategies to challenge negative thoughts and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Mindfulness Techniques: Mindfulness practices will be integrated into the sessions to help students cultivate present moment awareness, reduce stress, and enhance emotional regulation. Guided mindfulness exercises, such as deep breathing, body scans, and mindful movement, will be used to promote relaxation and self-awareness.

Psychoeducation: Educational components will be incorporated to provide students with information and tools to better understand their emotions, relationships, and identity development. Topics may include self-esteem, body image, healthy communication, and boundary setting.

Group Support and Sharing: The therapy group will provide a safe and supportive space for students to share their experiences, challenges, and successes with their peers. Group discussions, activities, and reflective exercises will foster connection, empathy, and mutual support among participants.

Creative Expression: Creative expression activities, such as journaling, art therapy, and storytelling, will be encouraged as outlets for self-expression and exploration. These activities can help students process emotions, gain insight into their experiences, and develop a sense of empowerment.

Overall, the therapy interventions are designed to empower high-school female students to navigate the complexities of adolescence with resilience, self-awareness, and a strong sense of community support.
